Big turbos on hondas ??????

Postby Tut_STi on Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:03 pm

Now im not really into the honda line of racing as most ppl would kno....but i have been around a couple of hondas both NA and Boosted and the idea of slappin a hugh turbo on a honda to me is useless.

Now i watched a specific honda in nevis tha last meet runnin a pretty large turbo which takes foreva to spool up...yes a big turbo would create more power....but when is this power goin to b administered ? at redline ? 1000 rpm b4 the shift light ?

perfect example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBnDmiPcjcU&NR=1

at 53 secs into the vid pause it....he is runnin 1.3 bars or 19psi of boost and look at where he is gettin full boost at 7600 rpms

isnt this a bit unecessary ? on the street it'll b a pretty fun car to drive but on the track i garantee a NA honda with a healthy shot would own it....

I spent some time in the us around a civic maing 850whp custom built turbo by precision and did 10.8 @ 150mph
got beaten on the track by a 600whp mustang which did 10.3 at 132mph

All in all b16's b18's leave the the bigger turbos for the bigger engines that can spool them efficiently.....thats y you have VTEC utilize it

I will not go against you on this. 1.6 and 1.8l engines should be NA.

well it all depends on size of turbo..psi running..size of motor.. i believe a decent size turbo on a b18 could spool decently all depends on size and turbo...

Teddy. I still like NA but rumor has it that there is a red Integra in antigua with what look like a truck turbo taking out everybody. Currently doing low 10 with no traction until end of third (NO NOS). So as Omar said it depends on the setup.

my point exactly....a decent size more efficient turbo would work well on it....not this gigantic turbo..thats giving u boost outside ur powerband....and i think they integra your talkin about in antigua is cliff's wen i was in anu one time i saw him run a 10.8. i neva got to loook in the engine but i heard he is runnin a gt42 and actually in the 9secs bracket now....and its streetable...atleast he got it workin right
