Postby IKENTY on Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:55 am

Quoted from http://www.nevispages.com
CHARLESTWON-NEVIS)- A brief presentation was held yesterday, Thursday June 10, 2010 at the Charlestown pier to present cheques and trophies to the winners who participated in the Winfest Drag Race. The Winfest Drag Race was held at the St. James Race Track in collaboration with the Nevis Drag Race Association on Sunday, May 23, 2010 as part of Winfes 2010.
President of the Association Vaughn Anslyn thanked Delta Petroleum for sponsoring the prizes for the event. Delta Petroleum was also the Platinum sponsor of the entire Winfes 2010 celebrations.
Manager of Delta Petroleum Limited in Nevis, Miss Sharon Hobson in her brief remarks stated that it was an honor for her company to be in partnership with the Nevis Drag Racing Association. Delta Petroleum, she said is extremely committed to investing in the young people since the company is of the view that they are the future of the country. Hobson urged all drag racers to continue with the sports and refrain from all criminal activities.
Assistant Secretary of the Nevis Drag Racing Association, Miss Cavel Mills announced the winners while Miss Sharon Hobson presented the cheques and trophies. The categories are as follows:

Bike:
Winner:
Andy Daniel

Cars:
Winners:
14 seconds plus- Joshua Smithen
13 seconds- Annelis Leibrandtt
12 seconds- Felix Smithen
11 seconds- Earl ‘Panco’ Hanley
10 seconds- Travone Bryant
09 seconds and under- Gavin ‘Moon’ Clarke

Annelis is the only female drag racer in Nevis.

Vaughn Anslyn congratulated Mr. Gavin Clarke for his excellent performance on the track. Anslyn stated that on that said day Gavin created a new category. Gavin’s vehicle ‘King of Cali’ is the only car in the Federation which has ever ran 8 seconds.

His exceptional 8.8 seconds time made him the third fastest time on the St. James Race Track.
The fastest time is said to be that by ‘Ice-man’ from Antigua. He did 8.1 seconds.
Gavin received a cheque for $1500.00 E.C for his outstanding performance.

The next Drag Race at the St. James Race Track is scheduled to take place Sunday, August 1, 2010.

What is stated below is my opinion. If you know different then you post but don't argue with me.

Based on what I understood the race was on the Sunday not the Monday but yet the conclusions were done on Monday with the other contenders absent (Reminds me of an earlier incident when races were not finished but yet prizes were awarded).
DAN would have been Declared 9sec and under winner because AXA Mustang forfeited and King of Cali was down. Lenny and Pancho did not finish if my memory is correct but yet Pancho win.
14,13&12 sec are correct
I remember Travone beat Ricky so I think that 10sec is correct too.

There is no mention of The 4 Teams that came from Anguilla and raised money buy doing car shows and Burn Outs after church on Sundays nor is there any mention of St. Kitts anywhere in this article.

To NDRA: PLEASE GET YOUR SHIT ORGANIZED. WE DON'T NEED ALL THESE INTERMISSIONS AND DJ PLAYING MUSIC. WE COME TO RACE SO JUST LET THE RACERS RACE. TRACK-BITE SPRAYING DOWN AT 11AM FOR 12PM RACE THAT START AT 3:45PM CANT WORK. THIS ONE RACE THING CANT WORK, THE CROWD PAY THEIR MONEY TO SEE RACING AND I PAY MY HARD EARNED $80.00 TO RACE NOT TO LISTEN MUSIC. ALSO IF YOU HAVING A TWO DAY EVENT PLEASE ADVERTISE IT AS A TWO DAY EVENT SO THAT PEOPLE CAN ORGANIZE TO ATTEND THE EVENT.

Thanks to Delta Petroleum, SKB Racers, NEV Racers & AXA Racers for putting on a great show for the fans.

Vaughn decided that Panco is the winner. I smell a rat in that.
